Documents required for CE MARKING CERTIFICATION

To obtain the CE MARKETIN CERTIFICATION, there are certain mandatory documents required that every applicant is required to collect. An applicant is required to prepare a special technical file during the CE marking certification procedure. The said should consist of the below mentioned documents -

• Particulars about the product.
• Technology used behind the designing and operation of the product.
• Details of the procedure to operate the product.
• Harmonized standards prescribed by the British Standards Institution in the UK applicable to your products.
• List of directives applicable to the product.
• Procedure utilized to meet the desired requirements as per the specified standards.
• Calculation regarding the designing of the product.
• Report of an independent authorized body declaring product conformity with applicable standards.

The technical file consisting of the above documents is required to be kept safe until 10 years after the production has stopped.

CE MARKING CERTIFICATION Procedure

1. The responsibility of following the mandatory steps detailed below, before affixing the mark CE marking on their products falls upon the manufacturer. Thus, if you are a manufacturer of a product, the below steps are required to be followed -
2. To begin with, you should check whether your product falls into the above categories of products.
3. Further, determine the applicable requirements of directive to your product as each directive lays down distinct methods of ensuring conformity depending on the product and purpose of its use.
4. In order to showcase that your products meet the essential requirement,  you can check if they comply with the harmonized standards prescribed by the British Standards Institution in the UK. The aforesaid standards can be discovered by looking into the 'Official Journal' on the European Commission's website, or by visiting the New Approach website established by the European Commission.
5. The most important step in the ce marking certification process is to determine whether self-declaration will be sufficient or you require certification from a notified body. The same can be ascertained depending on the Directive and classification of the product.
6. Finally, when the manufacturer believes that his product meets all the requirements, there is a need to test whether the essential requirements of the Directive(s) are met or not.
7. Further, the special technical file comprising of the documents listed under the section of documents required should be prepared.
8. After being satisfied that their products meet the prescribed Directives, the manufacturer must file the complete declaration and affix CE mark on their product.
