RWA Registration

The Resident Welfare Association is the RWA full form. It is a public body representing the interests of residents who live within the community or in a specific area. A group of Resident Owners can legally establish RWA. If you reside in an apartment or housing community, it is required for the society to establish an association for residential welfare. The fundamental requirement for registration varies from state to state. A minimum of 7 members in the state are eligible for RWA registration at the Jurisdictional Registrar's Office.

A residential welfare association is an organization that represents the interests of a resident of a particular housing society. The Societies Registration Act, 1860, governs the RWA registration process. It has defined duties and roles to ensure its smooth operation. However, they do not possess any statutory authority. The fact that it is registered in the Societies Registration Act means that the RWA is subject to constitutional documents and cannot operate according to its wishes.

The RWA determines the amount of subscriptions required for each resident. While all residents are entitled to ask for membership, the RWA can deny membership upon saying the reason. RWA may cancel an individual member due to reasons like death or inability to pay for subscriptions or act against society's rules, or even if they don't attend any meetings. The RWA also must implement and manage the policies and initiatives in the organization. It is important to note that although membership is available to everyone, only those who have signed up for membership are eligible to become members.
